There have become more fans of trout fishing among anglers in recent years. Trout fishing is fascinating, complicated and always interesting. Complexity is at least to find the fish. After all, it is very fastidious about its habitat. The water temperature should not be higher than 20-21 degrees, and the water should be as clean as possible. Trout avoids dirty water.

Places and time for fishing

The favorite places of trout in the river are riffle or rift. Trout often inhabits the shallow depth, in quiet places, under cover of stones.

The beginning of trout fishing usually coincides with the breakup of the rivers. In the early spring, look for it in pits, purls below riffles, i.e. where the fish have something to eat. But if suddenly the water level begins to rise, it is almost impossible to locate trout.

Trout can be caught in three ways — float rod, spinning and fly fishing. Let’s consider all these options.

Float rod

For fly fishing with a float rod, choose a longer rod. It allows you to throw the bait at a big distance not coming up to the surface and thus not revealing yourself to the trout. The rod should be easy and have a solid tip to ensure the accuracy of distant casting.

Choose fishing line with a diameter of 0.2-0.25 mm, preferably of such color so that to let it be invisible in the water column. Hooks – Nr. 6-8. As a rule, one takes one hook, but in exceptional cases (e.g., when the bottom is muddy) two hooks may be used.

The best buzz is an appetizing muckworm or earthworm, and insect larvae. It is up to you whether to use half of a worm or the whole one. But please note that small and medium trout will not be attracted to a large worm. Stick the bait so that to hide the hook.

Trout fishing requires great cautiousness. You should come up quietly to the place of possible location of the fish in order not to frighten it away. Frequent casting is not recommended for the same reasons.

Trout bites pretty confident. Several times it feels prey, and then grabs it and drags onto the bottom. Here you should not back-pedal, because as soon as the trout feels a hook, it immediately spits the bait out. If there are no bites, do not worry: you can find another place, and after an hour or an hour and a half return to the previous place. The fact is that trout has a habit to skulk. So it is quite possible that the place that you originally thought unfortunate, in fact, will spring a surprise on you later.

Spin fishing

Trout spin fishing means usage of a rotating spinner or blinker that would attract the attention of fish weighing not more than ten grams or lures up to ten centimeters. In the spring, it is better to catch trout in small ponds and implement rod fishing near the bottom. But with the onset of heat and appearance of insects, the trout rises to the surface of the water, and one can catch it at various depths.

Remember: the best time to catch trout is at night (this especially applies to large fish), in the morning or evening. During the day it usually hides in the riffles and shoots.

When the trout hunts, it is very active, and it is not that difficult to catch it. It is worth noting that the trout bite improves, as a rule, after small rain. This causes turbidity in the river and trout begins hunting.

Trout spin fishing can be fulfilled from shore or when wading. You should better move along the shore upstream and come into the water only in extreme cases. Casting accuracy plays an important role in spin fishing.

Fly fishing

During fly fishing, use light tackle of the fifth or sixth grade. The tackle of the seventh-eighth grades is applied for catching the trophy specimens. Diameter of line is 0.15-0.25 mm.

Trout fishing — tips and tactics

Read our expert advice from fishermen to increase your trout catch:

• During distant casting, as well as when fishing in the shallows, it is better to take artificial fly.
• If it is not windy, use the floating bait, as both natural insects and artificial flies are well visible on the calm surface of the water.
• There are different requirements for the «dry» and «wet» artificial fly. The «dry» fly, floating down the river, should not sink, and its underwater part should resemble a natural insect lying on the water; it is very important for it to leave prowling;
When fishing on the surface, especially on a smooth surface, it is necessary to perform accurate casting. Fly lure should fall before the line does and closer to the possible location of trout, as the artificial fly that has lowered at the distance will not cause fish to fight for it, and the line that has fallen before the fly
• To successfully hunt for trout, the fishermen should disguise themselves well and come up to the fishing place very careful. Trout is exceptionally cautious fish. If it sees a fisherman on the shore, it immediately rushes to the depth under the stream of falling water or
• Large fish should be slowly played using a coil. A fisherman, guided by these tips, will be always rewarded with a good catch and will get great satisfaction.
